Hickman is shown in the safety of the jail after running a gauntlet of shouts, "Lynch him! String him up!" from crowds outside the Hall of Jusice. He is shown with the two men upon whom he chiefly depends for protection against violence, Jailer Frank Dewar, and Undersheriff Gene Biscailuz. He was convicted for the murder of Marion Parker and hanged at San Quentin prison in 1928.
