Among planners of traditional pre-Lenten pancake suppers to be held in Valley Episcopal churches Tuesday are members of the ASK Club of St. Michael and All Angels, from left, Mme. Vee Hovnanian and Harry Smith who are ready to try sample pancake turned by Paul Vaughan. Shrove Tuesday event will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at St. Michael's, 3646 Coldwater Canyon Blvd., Studio City. Custom of eating pancakes before Lent begins dates back to early England when no fat was eaten during entire Lenten season. All grease and fat in household was used up by making pancakes one day before Lent began."
