Description
This series of interviews document the life of Olindo Romulus Angelillo (Nov. 17, 1899 - May 21, 1988), an Italian American civil engineer, inventor and scientist. Angelillo was active in California politics in the 1930s and 1950s. He was appointed, in 1933, by President Franklin D. Roosevelt as the Federal Farm Loan Registrar of the 11th District, comprising the states of California, Utah, Nevada, and Arizona. In 1950 Angelillo ran unsuccessfully as an Independent candidate for California Governor. He later did work on water resources, energy development, earth movements, and air pollution control. Angelillo was the inventor of the flume gas pollution eliminator in 1975. His personal story provides inspiration and understanding of an immigrant's struggles to thrive in America.
