Description
Used by cinematographer Clyde De Vinna during the filming of the movie "Trader Horn" in Africa (1931), reportedly the first full-length movie made off-shore. The engine powered a ham radio station that De Vinna used to maintain daily radio contact with Hollywood. Manufacturer's tag: Portable Generator Type 300, Serial 112, Output 300 Watts, Heintz and Kaufman LTD. San Francisco, USA. Stamped next to the tag is "300-1". Patent #1924462A, filed October 4, 1932 by Philip F. Scofield.
