Developer Harlan Lee of The Lee Group on the left, and Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa on the right, pose in front of the Grand Lofts, on 11th and Grand in Downtown. Grand Lofts' building history dates back to 1923 when businessman George Pepperdine had it built as his Western Auto Supply headquarters; the architect was John Montgomery (J.M.) Cooper. It was restored by developers, The Lee Group and CIM Group, and Killefer Flammang Architects, as a seven-story, 66 two-bedroom residential loft building in the heart of downtown's growing South Park area, where 11th Street and Grand Avenue meet, just three blocks from Staples Center.
