From left to right: Chick Hearn, Jack Kent Cooke and Lou Mohs. "Chick" Hearn, the "Voice" of the Los Angeles Lakers is never at a loss for words when he's broadcasting their games. Now it's guaranteed that he'll be talking about Jack Kent Cooke's basketball stars for the next 10 years. That's the length of the formal contract "Chick" signed today in becoming Director of Communications for Cooke's California Sports Incorporated and it's a full-time job. "In my opinion," Cooke said, as he, Hearn and Laker General Manager, Lou Mohs, went through the contract signing ceremony in Cooke's Bevverly Hills office, "Chick is the ne plus ultra of basketball boradcasters, and one of the finest all-round sports commentators I've had the pleasure of listening to. On top of that, he's a great guy." Photo dated: August 29, 1966.
