Photograph of 2 monks holding open an illuminated score, Mission Santa Barbara, California, ca.1904. They stand on either side of a table displaying the first pages of a large score of chant written in an old notation. Legible writing includes: "Officium novissimum, S.P.N. Francisci, ad vesp. ae.", "cce qui in vita suffulsit domum, et in diebus suis corroboravit templum. Dixit Dominus. Directus est divini".... The monk at left wears an apron over his Franciscan garb. The table is covered with a cloth.
