Photograph caption dated December 3, 1927 reads, "Here is the winner, holding his own Herald individual trophy and the big cup for Fremont high, with the judges and the chairman of the great forensic event. Left to right: Dr. E. P. Ryland, Prof. Charles A. Marsh, young Mr. McKinney, Dr. R. L. McClung, chairman, and Superior Judge Marshall F. McComb. This is the first year that Fremont high has been entered in the oratory contest."
