View of Asa M. Fairfield standing in front of the first house in Lassen County which was built by Isaac Roop, 1854. Called Ft. Defiance, used by the "Never Sweats" [Honey Lakers] in Sagebrush War in 1863. Also called Fort Roop; located in eastern part of Susanville, Calif.; ca. 1915.
