Description
Photograph of a five panel panorama of the Kettleman Hills Oil Field, in March 1931. The five panels create a widespread view of the oil fields, with several derricks scattered across the land with nearby smoke stacks and digging equipment. The land is a series of dunes, most bare of grass and trees, which extends into the distance. In the leftmost panel, a derrick stands behind the slope of a dune with a cluster of piping and equipment around it. Four smoke stacks stand behind it to the right. The second panel has a derrick beside a rectangular structure, to the right of which sit several light-colored rounded objects. Another derrick sits at center, and a fourfold smoke stack on the right leads to the third panel. An oilrig is situated in the far left of the third panel, with a road that leads down to another derrick in front of a smokestack and large cylindrical tank. The fourth panel has a smoke stack and tank at left, and a road passes through it to the last panel. A tall oilrig sits at center on the fifth panel, and house-like structures with digging material lie at its base. To its left is a tank, while a smokestack sits in front of it.
