Description
Connie and Carl begin the interview discussing the context of the novel, and how single parents can relate to the narrative. They proceed to talk about the various characters in the book, its plot, and how fiction gave Carl the opportunity to inject real issues into the book. Connie and Carl go on to consider Carl’s insight into hypocrisy during his college years coming of age under President Nixon, and how that exposure influenced his writing and outlook. They continue on to talk about his next book project, and Connie closes the interview requesting an autograph for her copy of the book.
