Beautiful view of Lake Hemet surrounded by rocks, trees, and mountains. Lake Hemet, located in the San Jacinto Mountains 4,340 ft above sea level, is an artificial lake that was created in 1895 with the construction of the Hemet Dam. This water storage reservoir has a surface area of 420 acres of water with a capacity of 260 billion gallons, and 12 miles of shoreline. Activities at this lake include fishing, boating, picnicking, hiking and camping in the surrounding areas.
