Shown here is the main front entrance to the Brooks Clothing Company at 116 E. Broadway, exhibiting a mixture of art nouveau and art deco elements. The wide entrance is framed by two faux concrete or marble half-pillars. A glass and ironwork half-circle marquee advertises "BROOKS - $25." The interior glass ceiling of the marquee has striated rays extending out from a central point. A row of art deco-style, scale-shaped glass pieces extend out from the roof of the marquee like flower petals. Multi-angular bases support angular sectional display windows. A bright decal showing the familiar Brooks crest logo is applied to each window just above eye level, which reads, "Brooks $25 Only." Above the iron marquee there are elaborate, swirling, rococo ironwork panels framing fantasy creatures. Men's fashions are visible in the window. At far right is a display window for the Columbia Optical Company, showing the open eye logo along with the word, "Columbia Optial Co." written in decorative script. The upper edge of the optical window is hung with a gathered Austrian style shade. DATE NOTES: Noted on image back. ORIG. IMAGE: 8" x 10" B&W glossy print. NEGATIVE: Yes. KEYWORDS: Design, brothers.
