Description
This is a scrapbook compiled by George Pepperdine of various photographs, postcards, ephemera, and pressed leaves and flowers acquired during a journey around the world that he took with his mother Mary Pepperdine by ocean liner in the spring of 1928. Traveling with a tourist party, they visited England, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Egypt, and Palestine (now Israel). George and his mother then left the party and traveled on to Ceylon (Sri Lanka), Singapore, French Indochina (Vietnam), Hong Kong, China, Japan, and Hawaii. Mary Pepperdine was particularly interested in visiting the Holy Land, and George met with local missionaries at numerous ports. The album is encased in a pandanus weave cover acquired in Hawaii.
