This photograph is contained in one of two volumes by Dobbin titled "Album of San Francisco."
Eight views looking out over the skyline of San Francisco. Dobbin dates the photos at 1917. According to "Splendid Survivors" the top two floors of the Standard Oil Building at Bush and Sansome were added in 1916; this construction is plainly visible in the third photo. The Southern Pacific Building, begun in 1916, is not visible in the third and fourth photos. Also, the Santa Fe Building at Second and Market, built in 1917, is not evident in the fourth photo.
Photo on page 192 (top) is looking towards Nob Hill, showing the Shreve Building and the Fairmont Hotel. Page 192 (center) looks northeast, showing the Mills, Crocker, Hobart and Ferry buildings. Page 192 (bottom) looks southeast over the roof of the Palace Hotel towards Rincon Hill. Page 217 (top) is looking north on Kearny towrads Telegraph Hill. Page 217 (center) looks east, showing the Hobart building and the Wharf area south of Market Street.
Page 217 (bottom) looks south with the Call Building directly in the center. Page 218 (top) looks southwest along Market Street towards Twin Peaks, with the Humboldt Savings Bank, the Phelan Building, and City Hall prominent. Page 219 (top) looks west along Geary, showing the Whittell Building, the St. Francis Hotel, and the Head Building.
