Photograph of San Francisco earthquake damage, showing the ruins of buildings on the California Street hill from Sansome Street, 1906. Slabs of wood from the damaged building on the right lie across the foreground. Bricks lie in front of the crumbling building on the left. Several people along with a horse-drawn carriage move down the street at center towards the damaged buildings in the background. The new Merchants Exchange Building is still standing.
