Used in the Exhibit: Play by Play - A Century of L.A. Sports Photography, 1889-1989 Paul Caligiuri, working out with the 1984 Olympic team. Caligiuri captained UCLA to the NCAA title in 1985, before scoring one of the most important goals in U.S. soccer history: the winning tally against Trinidad and Tobago that propelled the national team to the 1990 World Cup. It was the first time that the U.S. qualified for the World Cup in 40 years. Later, Caligiuri played in Europe before finishing his career with the L.A. Galaxy. Photo dated: June 6, 1984.
