Photograph was edited for publication purposes Photograph article dated July 29, 1961 partially reads, "Construction of the first units of a student shopping center called the Centrum (center), at a cost of $550,000, has been authorized by the board of regents of California Lutheran College, Thousand Oaks. First phase of the uniquely designed campus facility will include seven of an eventual 11 buildings, with the completion date set for Feb. 1, 1962. The centrum is a radical departure from the usual college or university student union building, say its designers. Instead of putting student service facilities in one building...CLC has treated these facilities as units and grouped them into an informal, contemporary shopping center." Seen in photograph are college officials Gronlund, pointing at map, Lundring, Granrud, and Farwell.
