Image of an eye-level landscape view of boats on the Detroit River, including one steamboat named "Walk-In-the-Water," with people sitting on the shore and the city of Detroit, Michigan, in the far distance.
Probable date based on reference in Reps, Views and Viewmakers, 1751. "Corrie's Detroit Lithographic Office"--text, bottom left margin. "The Vessel From an Original Painting."--text, bottom right margin. Similar image titled "Detroit in 1820, from an original sketch made in 1820 by George H. Whistler" and printed by the Calvert Lithographic Company, 1871 is referenced in Deak, Picturing America, 324.
