Photograph of a Joshua Tree and automobile in the desert, the "landmark" on the race course at Muroc Dry Lake, 1925. The tree is pictured at left, separated from the automobile in the distance by an expanse of flat desert. Dry Lake later became Muroc Air Base and then Edwards Air Force Base.
