Description
Bill from Howard Company, Wholesale Merchants and Millers, located at 1st and Market Streets, Oakland, California. The bill, dated January 25, 1913, is for 92 pounds of small white beans, sold to the Commissary Department of the Western Pacific Railway Co. The letterhead is illustrated with a knight in armor and a red ribbon with the text "The Howard Company - Pure - Oakland & San Francisco, Cal." The slogans or descriptions "Grain and Feed stuffs - beans - rice - seed," "Crusader family flour," and "Crusader brand - flours and cereals - bakers hard and soft wheat flours - Kansas "Knight" the best" also appear on the letterhead.
