Photograph caption dated April 25, 1961 reads "Lemon juice. Helps the chicken." The article partially reads "It took me several years to learn that I wasn't a very good cook. I started at once on what turned out to be a year-long campaign to earn my first compliment for cooking. It was a sometimes-bitter, ofttimes-frustrating battle, but I can now smugly report that quite frequently my guests are heard to remark that 'Dinner was delicious!' Here's the biggest secret of my success: I cheat. (This is done by taking advantage of the many new cooking aids which can be purchased in a can, bottle or frozen-food box and served as though you had spent hours at a stove brewing sauces or other things which are much too complicated for those of us with limited culinary talents.)" Valley Times editor Ade Banks, in a series of articles with photos, describes products that help make meals easier to prepare.; See images #00136817 through #00136830 for all photos in this series.
