Description
Leather briefcase modified by Leo Jones for hidden surveillance equipment. Empty with the exception of connecting wires for listening and/or recording devices. Case appears to have a false wall with possible microphones embedded in the case sides and exterior tag. Wires are terminated with a 1/4 inch and a 1/8 inch phono plugs. Used by Jones for his Fargo operations. Leo Hugh Jones (1926 --2002) was an early pioneer in the development of electronic surveillance and countermeasures devices. In 1950, he founded the Fargo Company to design and manufacture these high-tech specialty devices. Based in San Francisco, Fargo sold its products exclusively to law enforcement organizations around the world. In 1965, Jones founded Saber Laboratories to provide countermeasures equipment, a fledgling industry partially induced by the Cold War with Soviet Russia.
