Description
Palomar Observatory was the subject of the Caltech float in the 1950 Rose Parade. Planned by noted industrial designer Henry Dreyfuss and built by students, the chrysanthemum-covered float had a telescope with an eight-foot-long tube mounted on a turntable with a diameter of nine feet.
