"Serena" sits with her dog in front of the rundown former shop turned apartment that Serena calls home, a building on the list of structures to be razed for a proposed entertainment center. Serena said that she would never sell and that they would have to build around her. Months later, when the photographer returned to a boarded up and padlocked place, neighbors claimed that the police had come and evicted Serena because she had been squatting in an abandoned building. Photograph dated June 24, 2000.
