Description
A woman wears a carriage dress from 1836. The woman wears a white full gathered skirt with a narrow border pattern of flowers at the hem. The bodice is of a long sleeved green jacket style that has a rope belt tied into a bow in the front. The jacket has decorations at the bottom and top of the sleeves, along the neckline, and down the front of the jacket. The neck and cuffs are edged in white lace. She wears a narrow black choker ribbon with a heart in the center and a cross hanging from the heart. Her hair is curled at the sides and braided into a bun on top of her head and has a double row of red ribbon woven into the bun, and encircling her head like a fillet or diadem. She holds a newspaper in her left hand and looks to the left.
