Description
Label features large stalks of rhubarb tied with blue ribbon against a backdrop of a man harvesting rhubarb from a field with hills in the background. Produced by J. C. Shinn (Niles, California) and distributed by Garcia Bros. & Aiken, San Francisco. Printed by Olsen Bros. Inc., San Francisco. According to the Mission Peak Heritage Foundation, who operate the Shinn House in Fremont, "Joseph Shinn was born 1861, youngest child of Lucy and James Shinn. He married Florence Mayhew in 1905, making their home at the Shinn Ranch in Niles (now Fremont). Together they had five children. Joseph ran the Shinn Ranch, often leasing acres to other farmers until he passed away in 1947. The remaining acres of the ranch (except the 4.5 acres of land that is now Shinn House & Arboretum) was sold in 1962."
