Description
Henry Allen, secretary and director of the Franklin Institute, writes EPH to notify him that he has been nominated to receive the Franklin Medal for his study of nebulae. He asks that EPH prepare a paper to deliver at the ceremonies, which also will be published. Because the other medalist has not been selected, Allen requests that EPH not yet announce his award.
