V1p275b In PHOTO ALBUM-VAULT: ** fc917.9461 A3, Vol. I, page 275 bottom. This photograph is contained in one of two volumes by Dobbin titled "Album of San Francisco." Text printed on photo: "American La France Truck Installed at No. 1 Truck, March 14, 1914." Text written under photo: "Chief of Fire Department Murphy in Uniform 1914." Photo shows front of new ladder truck with Thomas R. Murphy, listed in the 1914 City Directory as "Chief Engineer," along with three men in civilian clothing who may have been members of the Board of Fire Commissioners. Two other firefighters are riding the back of the truck. Judging by the surroundings, this photo was probably taken in Golden Gate Park.
