Photograph caption dated March 28, 1989 reads, "Crunch time: Construction workers and firefighters stand around pickup truck, buried by rubble, at Firestone Boulevard near Graham Avenue where a bridge support for the new light rail line between downtown L.A. and Long Beach collapsed this morning, trapping two men in their vehicle. Both men were only slightly injured, after a girder fell onto the road. Firefighters used the "jaws of life" to free one victim trapped in the wreckage. Cause of the collapse is under investigation."
