Photograph was edited for publication purposes Photograph article dated August 30, 1954 partially reads, "A family newly arrived in San Fernando Valley and starting on the road to American citizenship represents two generations of life as refugees. Counted on the basis of the two small daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Mustafa K. Amier, the family's case represents three generations of escaping from wars and war threats. The family has just arrived from Java and has taken up residence in the Valley, on the Indoneasian [sic] quota for naturalization as American citizens, although the entire family travels on a Saudi Arabian passport." Photograph caption reads, "Arrives to Valley from Java - Musdafa [sic] K. Amier, left, is welcomed by Mrs. Ahmad Kamal, of Tarzana, who sponsored his entry in United States. Amier plans to remain in Valley and eventually become citizen."
