This collection includes approximately 40,000 photographs by commercial photographer Ralph Morris, who worked in the Los Angeles area from 1939-1981. His advertising and industrial clients included department stores, restaurants, the automobile and petroleum industries as well as business executives. Also included is the Luckhaus Studio collection of architecture, fashion, the movie industry, sports and street scenes, images which Morris obtained in 1939. View of Pacific National Bank at Hill and 9th. Behind it is the Insurance Exchange Building, also on 9th. On the northwest corner construction is underway for a large commercial building. Pacific National is surrounded by smaller buildings: hotels (Hotel Alpin across the street), business schools (Holman Business College), art store (Green's Art Store). The building is a Renaissance Revival design in three parts: a vertical office block with rusticated base and a cap featuring 2-story arched windows and was built in 1926. Architects: Morgan Walls & Clements. The building was declared a Landmark of Los Angeles, March 1, 1988. Photo dated: Mar. 10, 1927.
