Photograph was edited for publication purposes. The body of Johnny Stompanato lies in Lana Turner's all-pink bedroom after he was stabbed to death by the actress's daughter, Cheryl Crane. Turner says she couldn't believe what she was seeing. She thought Crane was just poking Stompanato with her finger, but a knife was buried in his abdomen. Crane then dropped the knife. Stompanato gasped, sighed and fell to the floor. Turner heard Stompanato choking and gurgling, but saw no wound until she pulled up his sweater. That is why Stompanato's sweater is pulled up in the photo.
