Description
Exterior view of the General Assembly’s Institution showing several men standing at the main entrance to the college. The Institute was founded by Alexander Duff (1806-1878), on 13 July 1830, he was the Church of Scotland’s first missionary to India but after the Disruption of 1840 he joined the Free Church and left the college to establish the Free Church Institution, later Duff College. Both schools would later merge to form the Scottish Church College which gained a reputation of being amongst the best schools in India. The architecture and design of the school are of the Palladian style.
