Photograph (engineering notebook photoprint) looking south from foot of Fraser Avenue, showing Ocean Park Pier, Los Angeles County. No erosion. This was the result of a 6.2 tide on 9 January 1940 accompanied by heavy ground swells and 30 foot breakers which did considerable damage to piers and ocean front property between Newport Beach and Malibu along the route of the proposed "Ocean Front Walk" location of State Route 163 between Santa Monica and Redondo. Also visible are: beach, houses, other buildings, people on beach, roller coaster, street lights, automobiles, oil derrick in background, ocean. Legible signs include: "The Cray Taylor Hotel & Apts.", "Lemc Lime"...[?], "Ocean Park Pier", "7-up", "Kool Beer"[?], "Dome Theatre".
