PhotographÂ was edited for publication purposes; Title supplied by cataloger. Mr. Blackwell was born Richard Sylvan Selzer in Brooklyn, New York, on August 29, 1922. He was a fashion designer, fashion critic, journalist and radio and television personality. He became best known for his "Best and Worst Dressed" lists, issued annually from 1960 to 2007, and for his Academy Awards fashion reviews. Blackwell worked and lived with his partner Robert Spencer for more than 60 years. He died on October 19, 2008. Photograph caption dated May 7, 1964 reads "Models wait their turn in Blackwell's 'Little Blacks.'" The article partially reads "Undaunted by the fact that most of the fall line had been stolen two days before, California couturier Mr. Blackwell staged a fashion show to end all fashion shows Monday night at his Windsor Square mansion."
