Description
Open at last after much disappointment, including a fire that destroyed a home and rains that marred the decorations, Los Angeles' famous "Christmas house" at 919 Mathews Street, Boyle Heights, is shown here on December 16, 1938. Playing in the "snow" in front of the house are Jean Portland, left, and Windy Gilmore (wearing a bathing suit). Started several years ago by George C. Skinner, the decorated house attracts thousands.
