Frame buildings, one-story in height. Sign above door of center building reads "Parlor". Seated man reading newspaper in foreground.
Big Trees was used by two separate resorts and railroad stations. First, Welchs Big Trees, started by Joseph Warren Welch, became Santa Cruz County Big Trees Park. Second owned by Cowell family and became Cowells Big Trees, later Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park. Railroad station established by South Pacific Coast Railroad.
