They discussed topics such as: the social liability of identifying as Mexican, greater acceptance of Mexican Americans in schools, relations between parents and children, gender relations, assimilation, economic barriers producing educational and social difficulties, problems with complexion (colorism), culture and economics, discrimination towards Mexicans and other minorities, cultural retention, civic participation, attitudes towards Western medicine versus traditional medicine, racial profiling, delinquency, and other socioeconomic problems.
