Here is a night view of the open air Alpha Beta Market at 650 Pine Avenue, slightly blurred from the camera's long exposure. A wide variety of produce is on display along the sidewalk. In several places, weighing scales hang above the vegetables. Wicker shopping baskets are stacked on the floor in the foreground. Mounted above the wide entrance are tulip-shaped public address speakers and neon block letters spelling out the store name. Sample prices include Parsnips, 5 cents a pound; and Celery (stalks), two for five cents. The store also has a vertical neon sign reading, "MARKET," just visible in the background at right. Van De Kamp's Bakery display and sign can also be seen just under the vertical MARKET sign. DATE NOTES: Noted on image back. ORIG. IMAGE: 8" x 10" B&W glossy print. NEGATIVE: Yes.
