Photograph of a large steamship backing out of Catalina Harbor, ca.1908. The harbor is at center, and a large number of sailing vessels can be seen moored on the water. At left, a steamer is backing out of the harbor, creating a wake near its bow. A wooden dock can be seen near the shore at right. The city of Avalon is also visible at right and is composed of many small buildings. Tall hills can be seen around the city.
