Description
A view of the beach looking west from Alamitos Avenue. In the foreground, a large galvanized metal drainage pipe extends across the beach and into the ocean. A structure of wood pilings holds it in place. An approximately 2-foot concrete water barrier extends the length of the beach, dividing it into two sections. In front of the waves, wooden log-shaped pilings extending about 10 inches above the sand are also lined up at even intervals along the beach. One lifeguard station is noted in the background at upper right. In the distant background, a small pier, downtown buildings, beach apartments, and the municipal auditorium are visible.
