Description
Students wrestle in a mud pit as part of an annual class competitions. This photograph appeared in an October 1953 newsletter with the following caption: "Rivalry is ever present between the freshmen and sophomores and the annual mud fight provides the physical expression for pent-up emotions. Even after the tussle, as shown here, enthusiasm runs high, and before the muddy pond had settled the Ghosts had been tossed in, to share the grimy fate of the underclassmen. The Ghosts, honorary men's organization, sponsored and refereed the fight."
