This image was part of a California State Library photographic history project documenting the daily lives and historical, political, and cultural contributions of California's diverse communities. On June 12, 1999, Long Beach residents donated to the Long Beach Public Library 398 family and personal photographs as part of this ongoing statewide project. Here, two men sit on the curb in front of a business. An automobile is parked at left nearby. The building is made of wood and shows two walk-in entrances and several windows. A sign propped up against the building under the window at right, reads: "Certain-teed Roofing and Shingles; Williams Lumber Co." The man at left is Ralph Williams; the man next to him is Art Williams, his brother. According to the donor, they are sitting in front of their lumber business, Williams Lumber.
