Description
A facsimile of three photographs of school children at Heart Mountain. An annotation for the top photograph of a classroom reads, "Grade 4 Ht. Mountain." A middle photo is another view of a classroom taken from the rear of the room. An annotation transcribed from the back of the bottom photo of six male children reads, "(Back) Monjie, Bob Nakano, Kazuo Nabuji, Masaru, Kenji, Frank. Heart Mountain in Background Grade 6 Boys 28-3-E." The Heart Mountain Relocation Center was built during the summer of 1942 and received its first contingent of Japanese Americans on August 12, 1942. It is located in Park County, northwestern Wyoming. The collection contains Community Camp Council meeting minutes, camp laws, correspondence, the case of People of Heart Mountain vs. Tom Yamada, and other documents.
