Description
The Beaver was a student paper published by the Student Association of American River Junior College. American River Junior College was originally opened as Grant Union Junior College in 1942, in 1954 the area voted to open a Junior College District, and Grant Union Junior College was reopened as American River Junior College (ARC) in 1955. The college was moved after the purchase of 153 acres of land known as the Cameron Ranch and a permanent campus was built in 1958, ARC became part of the Los Rios Community College District in 1965. The Beaver was included in the California Journalism Association of Junior Colleges and covered topics of campus life, news, and politics as well as sports and entertainment.
