PHOTO: VESSELS: INDEPENDENCE
Two Taber views mounted on each side of a canvas sheet. View 1, Taber print no. 5997, (1991-0168) shows the receiving ship, "Independence", at Mare Island. It is completely enclosed; sailers walking along a plank bridge from the ship. View 2, Taber print no. 5993, (1991-0169) shows the U.S. protective cruiser "Boston" moored at Mare Island. Sailors are on the ship, schooners are on the Bay to the right.
