Photograph of a panoramic view of Hollywood, looking east from the mountainside, 1930. Homes are visible in the residential area at the foot of the mountain that is partially visible in the left foreground, but transform quickly into the skyscrapers of the city at center, where the spires of several churches can be seen to the left and to the right. The city then shrinks back into residential housing in the background as it stretches towards the hills.
