Title
Drills of 1-0 western yellow pine from the Coconino Forest planted with the Planet Jr. machine. These are to be used as 1-0 stock but to leave them they will be thinned out. Planting with the Planet Jr. has not been satisfactory, as it does not plant evenly and the seeds are too thick as the picture shows. The transplant bed of sugar pine 1-1 stock shown to the left of the picture is not very healthy stock. They have not been able to raise any sturdy sugar pine stock here. The roots get bunchy growths or swellings below the collar which kills them (Meinicke) and in general the stock seems weak. Pilgrim Creek Nursery
