The Pasadena Golf Club (formerly known as the Altadena Country Club) was located at 2290 Country Club Drive, Altadena, CA 91001. It was established in 1910 and had its grand opening on December 28, 1911, with an 18-hole golf course and two tennis courts. In 1920 the name was changed to Pasadena Golf Club, and by 1927 renovations added additional square footage for ballrooms, dining, and balconies to the existing clubhouse. The Club would thrive and prosper until the crash of the stock market in 1929. The club was renamed once again to the Altadena Golf Club and became a public pay-for-play course. In 1946, the club sold 60 acres to the County of Los Angeles for what would become the existing 9-hole Altadena Golf Course, located at 1456 E. Mendocino Street, Altadena, CA 91001. The eastside of the course, which stretched to Allen Avenue, was sold to a developer, and a group of members purchased the remaining clubhouse, pool, and tennis courts. In 1946 a new club was formed, called the Altadena Town and Country Club, members continued to use the adjacent golf course, but tennis is now the sport at the club.
